This program is based on synthetic phonics instruction which The UK's Department of Education highly recommends. It is also the only program that focusses on the five components of reading that the U.S. Department of Education and Reading Recovery Council of North America have found to be essential.
Why It Works?
Every child is special and can achieve great things! Whether your child is just beginning or is struggling on the pathway to becoming a successful and competent reader, this program will work for them.
• It's fast-paced and based on their specific level.

• It ensures that they're actually successful with constant assessments.
• It's founded upon research-based practices.
Why It's Different?
Everyone learns differently. The Imperial Academy of Reading recognizes this and offers a tailor-made reading program to ensure that your child succeeds. Rather than repeating things that they already know and frustrating them, it finds where their gaps lie and offers a program to fill these.
Unlike other reading programs, it encompasses all of the five elements of reading rather than just focusing on a few which provides your child with a thorough and all-encompassing program.
In addition, it's based on their age level, so children of all ages can learn in a fun, fast-paced program geared towards their needs and maturity level.
Along with offering comprehensive and understandable lessons, the program offers professional and one-to-one support if questions or concerns arise.
Why It's Effective for Helping Dyslexia Sufferers?
If your child has been diagnosed with dyslexia, this reading program can provide you with an excellent way to provide parent support.
What is Dyslexia?
Dyslexia is a learning difficulty that affects reading and spelling. Often times, many different learning difficulties are misdiagnosed as dyslexia. Dyslexia is a specific learning disability where connections between different parts in the brain that deal with communication and language aren't as efficient as they should be. It does tend to run in families. It's believed that ten per cent of the population suffers from dyslexia, although dyslexia is difficult to properly diagnose and it can affect a sufferer in different degrees.
What are Symptoms of Dyslexia?
There are many different symptoms of dyslexia. These are just a few easily identifiable symptoms:
· Letter and word reversals and substitutions
· Dizziness or headaches caused by reading
· Difficulties reading and spelling at grade level despite being highly intelligent
· Higher scores in oral examinations than written exams
· Hands-on experience and visual demonstrations are their best learning environments
· Extremely disorderly and has trouble with time keeping
· Low self-confidence
Why is the Five Elements of Reading Program an excellent reading program for children or adults with dyslexia?
1. Studies show that children and adults suffering from dyslexia need reading programs that teach phonemic awareness through explicit, direct instruction that teaches all five elements of reading in a sequential manner.
2. The best way to offer remediation for dyslexic students is by teaching the rules governing our language. It's important that the rules of language are offered in a concise and clear way.
3. The best reading program for dyslexic children needs to begin with the most basic element of phonemic awareness and continue through the harder elements of reading such as decoding.
4. Due to their high intelligence and often times low self-esteem, dyslexic children need reading programs that aren't "too babyish"and patronize them and offer a lot of rewards and quick signs of success.
5. Because children with dyslexia tend to learn best through the use of their senses and with hands-on experience, a multi-sensory and active approach is imperative.
